I am writing this from thousands of feet above, on my way to Seattle for Confluent’s Global Kick Off 2026.
It’s been three months since I joined. Looking back, leaving my previous role wasn’t easy. I was comfortable. I knew Azure like the back of my hand. Moving here meant leaving that safety net for a completely new technology stack. I have always loved technology, and I learned everything put in front of me. But the biggest change isn’t just the tech—it’s how I explain my job.

For years, I struggled to tell relatives what I did. “Virtualization,” “Server Admin,” and “Public Cloud” are hard concepts to visualize. I would talk about hosting websites, and they would nod, but I knew they didn’t really get it.
I recently spoke to some college students and teachers, and I realized I can explain my work using now use cases from their daily lives to show how we make life faster and easier.
I ask them to imagine this:
You are cooking dinner. You put the meat in the pressure cooker, but suddenly realize you forgot the masala. You order it on your delivery app. Because of the technology we power, that masala arrives at your door before the pressure cooker whistles.
When I say that, their eyes light up. They ask, “How is that speed even possible?”
That is when I get to explain the magic. I tell them it’s not just fast driving; it’s Data Streaming.
In the old world, data sat in a database waiting to be read—we call that “data at rest.” That is too slow for a 10-minute delivery. But at Confluent, we set Data in Motion.
When you hit "Order," it instantly triggers an event that flows through our product.
Our system doesn't wait for a nightly report; it helps the store's inventory and the rider’s app talk to each other immediately.
We stream the data in real-time, acting like a central nervous system that controls the flow so the rider, the store, and you are perfectly synced.
Whether it is getting that masala home before the whistle blows, or handling the massive traffic during the events like IPL, Confluent provides the speed behind the scenes.
I always like to bring changes, and being part of a company that impacts human life so closely feels amazing. The human race has evolved and became so powerful by using tools and technology, and AI is playing a massive role now. But for AI to be truly smart, it needs fresh ingredients. It cannot rely on what happened yesterday; it needs to know what is happening right now. The world is moving away from data that sits in a warehouse to data that flows like a river
